XpoLog TxExpo - Transactions Analysis, Transactions Monitoring

Viewing and Searching logs is usually a task with a greater purpose of analyzing a Transaction. A Transaction is a general name to a sequence of steps either done by end user, robot , applications or any other business process. Each and every transaction instance generates log events, errors and information. In most cases the logs and events are located on many machines and application logs. When searching the logs we usually want to collect and correlate all the relevant events to a single transaction instance. Once we do that, it is easy to debug and understand how the transaction performed. It is also essential to know where errors and faults occurred during a transaction, and our troubleshooting process must help in that as well.

XpoLog TxExpo is the part of XpoLog Center that helps to automate the transaction analysis and monitoring process. First it helps in mapping a transaction between different logs, hosts and other sources. Once a transaction structure was detected, TxExpo knows how to collect and organize the log events in the transaction context. For every instance of a transaction, you get a visual map of its event flow, a list of the transaction events and a summary of errors that effected the transaction.

You then can either search or monitor each transaction instance according to its unique identifier. Quickly navigate to a flow of Web User that logged in into a web application. Analyze IP behavior according to the appearances in network and security logs. Transaction can be related to internal application execution like SOA integration.

How Does it Work?

XpoLog TxExpo is based on XpoLog Center agent less architecture, that means no agents, or instrumentation is required. TxExpo transaction analysis and monitoring is non intrusive and have minimal to no impact on applications and hardware

TxExpo transaction definition is done by visual transaction definition studio, in this configuration screen, a visual map of a transaction is built and structured by the end user. The relationship between events is defined and health rules are set. Another more advanced way is available, automatic transaction detection engine that gets a list of the transaction logs and then auto scan and detect the correlation and rules structure

After mapping a transaction, the user can fine tune the configuration and monitoring rules. XpoLog TxExpo scans the events and isolate each transaction unique events by filters and rules, then extracts the unique data from the event payload e.g. ID, IP. Session number, business transaction id etc.. TxExpo uses the unique to collect all log events into a single transaction instance

Once a transaction instance is identified, a set of rules is applied to verify the transaction is valid, well performing and error free. If a problem in any of the dimension is detected an alert will be generated. TxExpo also generates reports and status dashboard that pin point users to root cause in applications, network or other devices
